DoorDash has entered into a strategic partnership with the food tech company Wonder, involving a total investment of $425 million. As part of the agreement, DoorDash will acquire Wonder’s Grubhub Campus Dining division for $300 million. Additionally, DoorDash is contributing $125 million to Wonder’s Series D funding round, which was initially announced in July.
Wonder, founded by entrepreneur Marc Lore, operates a network of ghost kitchen food halls. The company has significantly expanded its presence, currently operating 157 locations, which represents a fourfold increase since the beginning of 2025. The firm plans to enter the Texas market in early 2027.
The acquisition of Grubhub Campus Dining allows DoorDash to integrate services currently active at 450 colleges and universities. DoorDash intends to scale this business model further by extending operations into hotels, stadiums, and other commercial venues to improve service efficiency for institutional partners.
Wonder’s portfolio includes the food delivery platform Grubhub, acquired last year for $650 million, as well as brands such as Blue Apron and Tastemade. The company also owns restaurant chains including Mighty Quinn’s BBQ, Salt Hank’s, and Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken as part of its strategy to build an autonomous food system.
