The developer of the Docx Anonymizer Chrome extension has expanded its functionality to support a wider range of file formats. Beyond initial support for contracts, the tool now processes .xlsx, .xlsm, .pptx, and .pptm files, including handling formulas, cell formats, slides, and notes. The extension warns users if formula processing impacts data integrity.
The update also introduces support for text-based formats, including .txt, .md, .csv, .json, and .log. The developer ensured that CSV delimiters and JSON keys remain intact, maintaining the validity of JSON files. These additions aim to provide a more universal tool for anonymizing data before interacting with AI chatbots.
The classification system has grown from 21 to 50 categories. New labels cover documents such as passports, driver licenses, military IDs, residence permits, and medical records. The system now also identifies IP and MAC addresses, vehicle identification numbers, and various registration codes.
A new feature allows users to inspect and remove hidden content and metadata. The interface now displays comments, revision history, hidden text, hidden sheets, and cached data from formulas and charts. Users can review and delete these elements before sending documents to AI services.
