An enthusiast under the nickname u/Uzbekunknown has successfully launched DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on Intel Arc 140V integrated graphics. The project, titled dlss-nr-on-intel, operates on the Xe2 architecture found in Intel Lunar Lake processors, specifically tested on a Core Ultra 7 256V chip.
The developer achieved this by implementing processing via Vulkan on Linux, bypassing the need for CUDA, NGX, or proprietary NVIDIA libraries. The mod was tested in games such as Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, Tekken 7, and Mortal Kombat 1, demonstrating that the neural model can function on non-NVIDIA hardware.
Performance remains extremely limited due to high computational demands. At a resolution of 1280x720, the Arc 140V achieved only 3–5 frames per second. In Tekken 7, reducing the resolution to 640x360 increased the frame rate to 10.5 FPS, with single-frame processing times reaching hundreds of milliseconds.
Memory requirements are also significant, as the neural network buffers for 720p resolution consume approximately 2.3 GB of system RAM. While the project is not yet a viable alternative to standard DLSS, it proves that the underlying neural rendering technology is compatible with different GPU architectures.
