Dallas-based investment firm Disruptive, established in 2012 by Alex Davis, has introduced the Disruptive Flagship Fund. The vehicle aims to raise $10 billion to invest in approximately 10 late-stage technology companies, with each investment reaching up to $1 billion.
This initiative represents a departure from the firm's historical strategy of raising capital for individual deals over a 14-year period. The new fund operates as a blind pool, where limited partners commit capital without prior knowledge of the specific target companies.
Disruptive has already secured at least $7.5 billion in commitments. The firm plans to maintain its focus on artificial intelligence, AI infrastructure, defense technology, and enterprise software, utilizing primary, secondary, and structured deal formats.
The firm reports a historical performance of returning over $6 billion on approximately $1.9 billion of invested capital. Its existing portfolio includes companies such as Airbnb, Databricks, ElevenLabs, Helsing, Groq, Palantir, Reflection AI, Spotify, and Shield AI.
Founder Alex Davis attributes the fund's creation to the trend of private technology companies remaining private for longer periods and requiring larger capital injections. He cites recent market activity, including large funding rounds for OpenAI, Fireworks AI, and Anduril, as evidence of this shift.
