Deutsche Telekom has halted plans to merge its operations with its US subsidiary, T-Mobile. The decision follows significant pushback from key stakeholders regarding the proposed consolidation of the two entities.
The company previously aimed to establish a new holding firm to acquire shares in both Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile. Had the deal proceeded, it would have created the world's largest telecommunications corporation.
Opposition to the merger came from multiple fronts. The activist investor Elliott, which holds a substantial stake in Deutsche Telekom, expressed disagreement with the plan. Additionally, the company's works council formally opposed the transaction.
