Deutsche Bank, the largest bank in Germany, is preparing to launch its cryptocurrency custody service within the coming weeks. The offering is initially designed for corporate and institutional clients based in Europe.

The bank intends to scale its custody platform into the Asian market by next year. The service will prioritize support for major digital assets like bitcoin, with subsequent plans to facilitate transactions involving stablecoins.

This move aligns with a broader trend among global financial institutions. Over the past 18 months, firms including BNY Mellon, State Street, Standard Chartered, U.S. Bank, and Citigroup have committed to providing direct crypto custody solutions.

According to Gerald Podobnik, co-head of the corporate bank, the institution recognizes the necessity of integrating tokenized and blockchain-based solutions into the modern financial system.
