Franklin Templeton has shifted the majority of its onchain assets to the BNB Chain. As of mid-October 2026, the firm holds approximately $1.5 billion in tokenized fund shares on this network, accounting for 59.8% of its total onchain portfolio.
The company manages its tokenized assets through the proprietary Benji platform, which supports ten different blockchains. Total assets on the platform are estimated between $2.5 billion and $2.6 billion, with the BENJI token representing approximately $760 million.
The flagship product, the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund (FOBXX), initially launched on the Stellar network in April 2021. The firm expanded to BNB Chain in September 2025 following a partnership with Binance, seeing holdings on the network grow by over 1,200% in a single month in early 2026.
In August 2026, the SEC issued a no-action letter permitting Franklin Templeton to utilize BENJI tokens for cash management and collateral purposes. This development allows the tokenized fund shares to function as financial tools, potentially competing with cash and stablecoins.
