The project focuses on designing a web-based monitoring dashboard and task scheduler for managing over 10,000 devices. The interface is optimized for 13-inch laptop screens, which provide approximately 630px of usable height, requiring a dense yet readable layout.
To maximize space, the design replaces sidebars with a navigation rail, implements collapsible filters, and uses selects instead of tabs. The layout relies on a rigid 8px micro-grid to ensure consistency and density, allowing administrators to view more data without excessive scrolling.
The system utilizes 'Layered Drawers' to manage complex tasks, such as selecting 500 specific servers from a pool of 10,000. This pattern prevents context loss and avoids the issues associated with overlapping modal windows, keeping the background visible for reference.
The interface incorporates preventive measures against logical and resource collisions. A timeline visualization acts as a heat map for system load, allowing administrators to identify peak usage and resolve conflicts via a master-detail view before errors occur.
The MVP aims to reduce 'Time-on-Task' through smart search masks and automated rule creation, while lowering the 'Error Rate' via proactive validation. These metrics will be evaluated during upcoming usability testing sessions.
