Developers identified new model identifiers within the official DeepSeek Harness GitHub repository. The provider.spec.ts file now includes entries for deepseek-v5, deepseek-v5-open, and deepseek-v5-next, listed alongside the existing deepseek-v4-pro model.

These entries currently function as placeholders within the framework rather than active model interfaces. The v5-open entry includes a version requirement of 0.0.1, suggesting a seamless transition path for clients. Conversely, the v5-next entry is marked with 99.0.0-alpha.1, indicating a requirement for future client updates.

The company previously released the V4 series in preview on April 24, 2026, with the V4-Pro version reaching general availability on August 13. A V4.1-Flash model, featuring a new architecture, was introduced in September. Despite these updates, DeepSeek has not issued any official announcements or documentation regarding the V5 series as of October 28.
