DeepL CEO and founder Jarek Kutylowski has dismissed speculation regarding an imminent initial public offering for the translation AI company. Despite reports from last year suggesting the Cologne-based firm was exploring a public listing as early as 2026, Kutylowski emphasized the current benefits of remaining a private entity.
The company leadership views public markets as a challenging environment for AI firms at this time. Kutylowski cited the anticipated IPOs of major industry players like OpenAI and Anthropic as significant factors contributing to market volatility. He noted that such shifts could lead to instability for companies operating within the sector.
During a recent discussion, Kutylowski also addressed several operational developments at DeepL. These include the acquisition of Mixhalo, a partnership with legaltech provider Harvey, and recent workforce reductions. Additionally, the company has transitioned to using Amazon Web Services, moving away from its previous model of exclusive internal server processing.
