Deepal Auto has partnered with ByteDance's Volcano Engine to integrate the Doubao large language model into its smart cockpit systems. The first vehicle to feature this technology will be the new Deepal S07 AI Laser Edition, scheduled for market release on September 28.
The integration enables natural language processing, allowing users to control vehicle functions through voice commands from both inside and outside the car. The system supports over 30 customizable scenario modules, voiceprint recognition for personalized settings, and child-specific interaction modes.
Deepal Chairman Deng Chenghao stated that the system utilizes a hybrid edge-cloud architecture. Basic commands are processed locally on the device for millisecond response times, even in areas without network coverage, while complex tasks are offloaded to the cloud.
The company emphasizes that local processing ensures user privacy. This collaboration is part of Deepal's strategy to enhance its AI ecosystem, as the company believes future smart cockpit performance depends on the depth of AI integration rather than individual hardware investments alone.
