According to XMG, the cost of DDR5 SO-DIMM memory modules has increased sixfold since July 2025. This surge mirrors the 500% price hike observed in the desktop RAM market over the past year. The company reports rising costs across various components, including SSDs, printed circuit boards, processors, and graphics cards.

Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have further impacted logistics, driving up fuel prices and maritime insurance premiums for shipments from Asia to Europe. Consequently, XMG has raised prices for most gaming laptops by €100–200 and increased the price of a professional model by €300, while maintaining its existing profit margins.

Industry outlooks remain divided regarding the duration of the DRAM shortage. XMG and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra anticipate supply constraints lasting until 2027. Conversely, Asus CEO Jason Chen expects price relief in the second half of 2027, citing increased production from Chinese manufacturers as a potential factor to stabilize the market.
