The DATA Network, previously recognized as Story, is transitioning its AI training data protocol to the Sui blockchain. As part of this strategic shift, the organization will discontinue its own independent chain.
The migration is supported by a $30 million investment from the Sui Foundation. This funding aims to facilitate the integration of the project's infrastructure into the Sui ecosystem.
The Trace registry, which debuted in June, will now operate on Sui. Additionally, the decentralized storage platform Walrus will serve as the primary storage layer for all applications managed by the DATA Foundation.
The project team selected Sui due to its capacity to handle millions of daily data registrations and the ability of Walrus to store extensive training datasets. The network will remain active until the transition concludes.
The DATA Foundation will release a comprehensive timeline and a plan for token holders before the upgrade. The company previously rebranded from Story Protocol, which focused on intellectual property licensing, to its current structure.
