Dacia has unveiled the second generation of the Spring, an A-segment electric city car. The model is moving production from Wuhan, China, to the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia, where it will be built alongside the Twingo E-Tech on the new RG-EV platform.

The vehicle features a 60 kW motor and a 27.5 kWh LFP battery with cell-to-pack architecture, providing a WLTP range of up to 250 km. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 12.5 seconds. Energy efficiency is rated at 12.7 kWh/100 km according to WLTP.

Charging options include a standard 6.6 kW AC charger (15 to 80% in 2 hours 55 minutes) and an optional 11 kW AC charger with V2L capability. DC charging is optional, with a maximum power of 50 kW, allowing a 10 to 80% charge in 30 minutes.

The new Spring is 15 cm longer and 18 cm wider than its predecessor, with a boot capacity of up to 337 liters and an optional 18-liter frunk. It is available in four colors: Agave, Slate Grey, Diamond Black, and Glacier White. The vehicle weighs just over 1.2 tonnes.

The model was developed using Renault Group's new programs to reduce development time to under two years and lower costs. Engineering for the powertrain was handled by the ACDC center in Shanghai, in collaboration with CATL for battery design and Shanghai e-drive for the powertrain.

The car will be available for order starting September 15, with first deliveries scheduled for the end of the year. Dacia plans to introduce three more fully electric vehicles by 2030. The entire range of the new Spring is expected to be priced below €20 000.
