At the Digital Innovation Forum 2026, held on October 16, Italy officially inaugurated its first quantum supercomputer and industrial quantum annealer, named Volta B1. The project was developed under the supervision of Q-Alliance and represents a significant advancement in European quantum infrastructure.
Davide Costa, Head of Innovation at DAC, participated in a panel discussion regarding the intersection of quantum computing and blockchain security. He emphasized that the rise of quantum capabilities necessitates a transition toward cryptographic systems capable of resisting future quantum threats.
DAC is currently developing an EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain designed with quantum resistance as a primary architectural feature. The platform utilizes Proof of Quantum Work and quantum entropy to ensure long-term security for digital assets and smart contracts.
The project aims to provide a scalable infrastructure for businesses and developers, focusing on maintaining predictable transaction costs. By embedding these security measures from the outset, DAC seeks to address the vulnerabilities that quantum advancements may pose to existing blockchain networks.
