The Cypriot Ministry of Transport is set to expand the national electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Currently, the island operates approximately 380 public charging stations across 221 locations. The government plans to add about 100 new units within the next three years to support growing demand.
A key component of this initiative is the installation of 94 fast-charging points by 2028, funded by the national Recovery and Resilience Plan with an estimated budget of €10 million. This project includes 76 chargers for passenger cars with a capacity of 150 kW and 18 units for heavy commercial vehicles offering power between 200 and 350 kW.
Ten fast-charging stations have already been deployed at a cost of €840,660. These initial sites include hospitals in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Kyperounta, and Famagusta, as well as various bus terminals and archaeological sites. The remaining installations are scheduled to be completed in phases throughout 2027 and 2028.
