Chinese memory manufacturer CXMT has officially launched mass production of its fifth-generation DRAM technology platform. This development marks a significant milestone for the company, as it aims to narrow the technical gap with global industry leaders such as Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.

The new platform utilizes a critical structure pitch of 11.95 nanometers, achieved through a quadruple patterning process. By increasing integration density, CXMT has improved manufacturing efficiency, allowing for a 50% increase in the theoretical number of chips per wafer compared to the previous fourth-generation platform.

Alongside the platform launch, CXMT introduced two 24Gb LPDDR5X mobile memory chips. These products offer a 50% increase in capacity over their predecessors and are designed for smartphones, tablets, and other portable electronic devices.

During the 2026 World Manufacturing Convention in Hefei, company representatives stated that their current process capabilities are on par with the most advanced mass-production platforms globally. The development involved extensive use of computer simulation and collaboration with domestic semiconductor equipment suppliers.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to build a localized supply chain and reduce reliance on external technologies. As demand for high-performance memory grows due to the expansion of artificial intelligence, CXMT intends to strengthen its competitive position in the global market.
