The CR400AF-X high-speed train, developed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang under the guidance of China State Railway Group, officially entered service on September 30. The inaugural run took place on the G43 route from Beijing South to Hangzhou East. A total of six trainsets have been deployed in the first batch, with plans to expand operations based on railway scheduling.

The train features a wireless charging system based on the domestic UFCS (Universal Fast Charging Specification) standard. Unlike the previous Qi standard, which was limited to 15W, the new system supports power levels up to 30W. This allows a mobile device to charge from 10% to 60% in 30 minutes. The UFCS protocol was developed by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology alongside companies like Huawei, OPPO, vivo, and Honor.

The UFCS initiative aims to resolve issues with proprietary charging protocols and dependence on international standards. As of September 30, 2026, 319 products have received UFCS certification, including 104 smartphones, 17 tablets, and 75 chip products from 49 companies. The standard is intended to enable cross-brand compatibility in public spaces, with future applications planned for subways, restaurants, and public seating.

Development of the CR400AF-X began in 2025, with the first prototype completing assembly and factory testing at CRRC Qingdao Sifang in early August 2026. The adoption of the UFCS standard is expected to reduce research and certification costs for manufacturers by eliminating the need to adapt to multiple proprietary protocols.
