CoreWeave co-founders have offloaded $3.3 billion in company stock since the firm's IPO on March 28, 2025. The majority of these sales, totaling approximately $2.4 billion, occurred during 2026. The transactions were primarily executed through prearranged 10b5-1 trading plans, with the founders citing liquidity and diversification as the primary objectives.
Prior to the public listing, the founders completed private share sales amounting to $488 million between 2023 and 2024. Despite the recent divestments, the three co-founders maintain a combined ownership stake of approximately 18% in the company. The firm, originally founded in 2017 as Atlantic Crypto, pivoted from Ethereum mining to AI cloud infrastructure by 2019.
The company's stock price has declined by more than 60% from its peak in June 2025. This downward trend coincides with rising investor concerns regarding credit risk and the sustainability of capital expenditure in the AI infrastructure sector. Short seller Jim Chanos has publicly highlighted the significant volume of these insider transactions.
