Coinbase has submitted a filing to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission through its subsidiary, Coinbase Derivatives. The company seeks approval to list single-stock perpetual futures for U.S. traders, allowing leveraged exposure to individual equities without direct share ownership.
The proposed product line includes approximately 50 to 60 contracts, covering major companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, and Nvidia. These perpetual futures track asset prices without expiration dates, provided traders maintain required margin and funding levels.
If approved by regulators, the platform aims to offer trading access to these equities 24 hours a day, five days a week. This initiative follows Coinbase's earlier expansion into regulated crypto perpetual futures, which currently allow for leverage of up to 50x.
The filing represents a strategic effort to bring popular crypto-style trading instruments to the U.S. stock market. While Coinbase already provides similar products to non-U.S. clients, these specific single-stock contracts remain pending regulatory clearance before launch.
