Cognition, the developer of the autonomous coding agent Devin, has appointed Alex Stamos as its chief security officer. Stamos brings extensive experience from his previous roles as CSO at Meta and CISO at Yahoo and SentinelOne.
The company, founded in late 2023, has secured over $4 billion in total funding. Its latest Series E round exceeded $2 billion, resulting in a post-money valuation of $48 billion for the startup.
As of late September 2026, Cognition reports an annualized revenue run rate surpassing $1 billion. The company serves major banking institutions, which necessitates robust security standards for its AI-driven software engineering tools.
Stamos is tasked with strengthening the company's internal security infrastructure and developing new commercial security products. His background at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity aligns with Cognition's plans to expand its product offerings.
