According to a recent analysis by Citi, Meta's AI assistant Muse could generate up to $27 billion in revenue. The bank projects that $23 billion of this total will come from transaction-related activities, while $4.5 billion is expected to be derived from subscription fees.
The report highlights that Muse has already surpassed 6.6 million cumulative downloads since its launch. Currently, the platform maintains 1.8 million daily active users. Citi notes that Muse is positioned as a central element of Meta's broader AI strategy, aiming to serve as a primary interface for internet users.
Meta faces competition in the AI agent market from major players, including OpenAI's ChatGPT Dots, Google's Gemini, and Anthropic's Claude. These companies are all vying to establish their tools as the leading consumer computing platforms, leveraging first-mover advantages to capture market share.
Despite optimistic revenue forecasts, some industry analysts remain cautious. Data from the Bank of America Institute indicates that only 3% of households currently pay for AI services, with a median cost of $20 per month. Concerns persist regarding high compute costs per session and the challenge of converting free users into paying subscribers.
