Circle has entered into an agreement to acquire the Singapore-based payment platform Tazapay for approximately $400 million. The transaction will be settled in Circle shares, with the deal expected to close in 2027, pending regulatory approvals.
Tazapay specializes in cross-border B2B payments and operates across more than 100 markets. The platform processes over $25 billion in annual transaction volume, with stablecoins accounting for approximately 60% of this activity. The company maintains partnerships with over 60 banks and fintech firms.
The acquisition provides Circle with established payment infrastructure and local banking relationships in the Asia-Pacific region. These assets are intended to support the growth of the Circle Payments Network and the Arc blockchain, facilitating the integration of USDC into local financial systems.
Industry experts note that this move allows Circle to bypass years of independent infrastructure development. By securing local payment rails, Circle aims to strengthen its competitive position in emerging markets, where cross-border payment processes remain fragmented.
