CineNow is preparing to launch a $150 million tokenized film fund by the fourth quarter of 2027. The project, managed from the UAE, aims to finance over 30 Indian films over a six-year period, with tokens backed by a portfolio of intellectual property rights.
Hamed Faqirzai, director of tokenization and capital markets at CineNow, stated that the success of such assets depends on clear legal ownership, transparent cash flows, and independent verification. The company plans to use segregated accounts and independent administrators to manage revenue streams.
The initiative follows the October 28 launch of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation’s Tokenization Service, which supports US Treasuries and select equities. While these assets benefit from established liquidity, niche products like film rights require standardized disclosures and market makers.
Data from Chainalysis indicates that private credit currently accounts for 77% of lending against tokenized real-world assets. The number of wallets participating in private credit lending grew by 1,618% in the year leading up to July, highlighting the growing utility of tokenized collateral.
