Analysts suggest that rising demand for CPUs and advancements in memory efficiency could drive chipmakers like AMD and Micron toward a 2 trillion USD market capitalization. This shift follows a period where the AI hardware market was dominated by a single major player.

During the second quarter of 2026, Micron increased its market value by approximately 920 billion USD, a 240% rise. AMD added 615 billion USD, up 186%, while Intel gained 480 billion USD, representing a 216% increase. Collectively, these companies added 2 trillion USD in value in one quarter.

Micron reached a 1 trillion USD valuation in May 2026, reporting year-over-year revenue growth exceeding 400% and gross margins of 84.9%. AMD surpassed the 1 trillion USD threshold between September 21 and 23, 2026, following an upward revision of its total addressable market estimate.

AMD now projects its total addressable market to reach between 2 trillion USD and 3 trillion USD by 2030, citing expanded opportunities in data center hardware. UBS analyst Timothy Arcuri has set a price target of 670 USD for AMD shares to reflect this growth potential.

Despite these gains, experts caution that reaching a 2 trillion USD market cap remains a possibility rather than a forecast. Key risks include elevated valuations, competitive pressures, and the long-term sustainability of current gross margins as new supply enters the market.
