The Paris Motor Show, starting October 12, features 60 automotive brands, with 20 of them originating from China. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the 2024 event, where only 10 Chinese manufacturers were present.
Established Chinese companies like BYD, Geely, Chery, Jaecoo, and Leapmotor are expanding their presence in Europe. They are joined by new market entrants, including Li Auto, Aito, Aion, and 212, which are using the exhibition to establish their European footprint.
Chinese vehicles currently account for over 10 percent of new car sales in Europe. While the European Union has imposed anti-subsidy tariffs of up to 35 percent on Chinese electric vehicles, manufacturers are increasingly focusing on hybrids, which are currently subject to a 10 percent import duty.
European automakers are responding with new product launches, including the Audi A2 e-tron, Skoda Peaq, Dacia Striker, and Fiat Grizzly. Meanwhile, BMW has decided not to participate in the event, despite having new models available.
