The China Railway Engineering Equipment Group, along with China Railway Tunnel Group and China Railway No.4 Engineering Group, has unveiled the Zhongtie 1662 tunnel boring machine in Zhengzhou. This unit is currently the largest domestically developed shield machine in China.
The machine features an excavation diameter of 16.68 meters, a total length of 125 meters, and a weight of approximately 4,800 tons. It is designed for the construction of a tunnel under the Dongpu Reservoir, which is part of the Hefei G4001 connection line project.
The planned tunnel segment spans approximately 2.9 kilometers and utilizes a dual-tube, double-layer structural design. The machine incorporates a hydraulic floating support system, a high-precision guidance system, and a segment selection system to navigate complex conditions, including steep slopes and sharp turns.
