The State Administration for Market Regulation has approved the national standard GB/T 48172—2026, titled Basic Requirements for Smart Freight Hubs. This document marks the first national-level standard for the smart freight sector in China. It is scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2027.
The standard outlines requirements for site selection, facility configuration, and network security, while also specifying differentiated operational functions for various hub types. It includes guidelines for hardware, data storage, and computing resources, encouraging the integration of AI services like model training and inference.
Specific requirements are set for smart infrastructure, including automated gates, warehouses, and loading docks, alongside intelligent equipment for security checks and sorting. The standard also covers operational management aspects such as production scheduling, vehicle management, energy monitoring, and emergency response.
The implementation of this standard aims to provide technical guidance for the digital transformation of freight hubs. By addressing bottlenecks in multimodal transport, the initiative is expected to reduce overall social logistics costs and support economic development.
