The National Radio and Television Administration of China reported significant progress in its campaign against unauthorized AI-modified videos. Major online streaming platforms disclosed their September enforcement actions, which included the removal of nearly 13,000 non-compliant videos and the disciplinary action against more than 30 accounts.
This initiative, which began in January 2026, aims to curb the misuse of artificial intelligence in content creation. Authorities are focusing on videos that manipulate classic literature, historical themes, revolutionary subjects, and depictions of heroic figures. Platforms are also tasked with removing inappropriate animated content to maintain a healthy digital environment.
Starting February 1, 2026, the governance of AI-modified content has transitioned into a permanent, institutionalized mechanism. The administration continues to supervise major streaming platforms, requiring them to strengthen daily monitoring and fulfill their responsibilities in enforcing these content standards.
