The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and three other departments have released a draft notice aimed at strengthening the management of automotive product design and testing. The initiative seeks to improve safety standards and ensure the quality of industry development.
Starting January 1, 2027, new products featuring innovative designs must include technical parameters and undergo safety and environmental assessments. Manufacturers failing to provide adequate testing data or submitting false information will not receive official approval.
Existing products must submit required documentation by July 1, 2027. If safety risks are identified after this deadline, manufacturers are mandated to halt production and initiate recalls. The draft explicitly prohibits the use of fully hidden door handles, as well as foldable or flexible screens.
The new regulations mandate comprehensive testing, including software functionality, environmental adaptability, and structural reliability. Environmental testing must span at least one year, while reliability trials must cover a minimum distance of 30 000 kilometers.
