OpenAI has introduced two new shopping-focused features for ChatGPT, now available globally. Users can access a virtual try-on tool for clothing and accessories, alongside a new 'Favorites' function designed to save items for later purchase.
The new tools are powered by the recently released ChatGPT Images 2.5 model. This update provides improved lighting effects, higher texture detail, more accurate instruction following, and faster image generation times compared to previous versions.
To use the virtual try-on feature, users upload a selfie or a full-body photo and select the 'Try On' button within search results. The system also allows users to upload product screenshots to see how items look on them or request style recommendations based on celebrity photos.
With these updates, OpenAI enters a market segment previously dominated by platforms like Google and Pinterest. Google introduced its own virtual try-on technology last year, setting up a competitive landscape for fashion-focused AI search tools.
