At the 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference in Beijing, Changan Automobile Chairman Zhao Fei outlined the company's outlook on autonomous driving. He expects the industry to achieve mass production of L3 autonomous systems by 2027, followed by the commercialization of L4 operations in 2028.

Changan reports strong demand for its intelligent features, noting that the urban pilot version of its Q06 model accounted for nearly 50% of orders in its first month on the market. The company emphasizes that safety remains the fundamental requirement for the development of intelligent connected vehicles.

The manufacturer has participated in the development of over 360 international, national, and industry standards. Changan also advocates for strict adherence to regulatory requirements and warns against misleading marketing practices or so-called pseudo-innovation within the sector.

In December 2025, Changan's Deepal brand received approval to equip its vehicles with L3 autonomous driving functions. This permit allows for automated driving on highways and urban expressways during traffic congestion. The company was also issued the first L3 autonomous driving license plate in China.
