Chainlink has officially launched CCIP 2.0, an upgraded cross-chain interoperability protocol designed to enhance security for institutional asset transfers. The update introduces a Committee Verifier network, which requires 16 independent node operators to validate every transaction across blockchain lanes.
The protocol upgrade follows a $292 million exploit at KelpDAO earlier in 2026. In the four months leading up to the launch, the platform saw over $15 billion in token value migrated to its infrastructure, including assets such as wrapped Bitcoin and Coinbase cbBTC.
The new version features an expanded Cross-Chain Token standard with self-serve onboarding, built-in compliance hooks, and rate limits. These tools are intended to assist regulated entities in managing tokenized assets while adhering to emerging regulatory frameworks.
Launch partners for the updated protocol include major industry players such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, ANZ Bank, and the Crypto Finance division of Deutsche Börse Group. These collaborations focus on use cases like cross-chain settlement for tokenized securities.
