The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is launching a new series of discussions titled the Frontier Forum. The inaugural event, focused on the role of agentic artificial intelligence in the financial sector, is scheduled for October 28.

CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig stated that the regulator aims to engage directly with developers and users to promote innovation while maintaining market integrity. The commission is currently accepting speaker nominations from the public via email.

Agentic AI systems differ from generative models by their ability to independently plan and execute tasks toward specific goals. Industry experts suggest these systems could enhance financial crime compliance by enabling automated, full-scale audits of cases.

Unlike traditional quality assurance methods that rely on sampling, agentic AI can process every case consistently without fatigue. This shift could potentially improve visibility into decision-making processes and strengthen overall financial oversight.
