Changan Automobile confirmed receiving a survey from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) regarding the materials used in brake pedal assemblies. The questionnaire specifically focuses on the application of non-metallic materials in these components.

Industry experts suggest this move follows the reported brake pedal bracket fracture incident involving the Zunjie V800. The survey is viewed as a preparatory step toward revising industry standards, specifically the QC/T 788-2018 technical requirements for automotive pedal devices.

Current national standards do not specify quantitative load thresholds or material restrictions for brake pedals, requiring only that components do not deform significantly. Manufacturers currently rely on internal standards to determine the force a pedal can withstand before failure.

Several automakers have disclosed their pedal specifications in response to the industry discussion. GAC Honda stated its Accord pedal uses high-rigidity steel capable of withstanding over 3000N, while BYD noted that its Yangwang brand uses metal pedals with an internal standard of 2500N.
