Capcom has released its RE:Dox data processing library as open-source software under the Apache-2.0 license. The tool is a core component of the company's next-generation REX engine project, which was first announced in October 2023 to improve upon the existing RE ENGINE.
RE:Dox is a token-based structured data engine designed for .NET environments. It standardizes data formats to streamline processing, editing, and reading tasks. Developers can access the project via GitHub for use in both personal and commercial applications.
Internal benchmarks indicate that RE:Dox can achieve up to 2.84 times faster performance in parallel JSON deserialization compared to the standard .NET System.Text.Json library. Capcom notes that actual speed gains may vary depending on specific data structures, hardware, and CPU configurations.
