California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed several legislative bills aimed at enhancing the state's electricity generation and transmission infrastructure. The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) noted that these measures are expected to improve access to solar and storage solutions for residents.
Specifically, the new law SB 913 introduces updated regulations for aggregated distributed energy resources. These changes are designed to stabilize the power grid and reduce electricity costs during periods of peak demand, according to the association's statement.
Despite these developments, the SEIA expressed disappointment regarding the veto of bill AB 1813. The organization stated that this decision prevents the state from implementing a scalable community solar program. The association intends to continue advocating for such initiatives with future leadership.
The SEIA represents 1200 member companies and focuses on advancing clean energy policies. Founded in 1974, the trade association works to shape market rules that support competition and the expansion of solar and storage industries across the country.
