The China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI) confirmed it issued a report regarding the Maextro V800 brake pedal. The testing center stated that the evaluation was conducted based on a sample vehicle provided by the manufacturer. The institute noted that it cannot verify if the reports circulating online have been altered.
According to a statement from Maextro, the third-party inspection was completed on October 11. The tests involved 14 brake pedal assemblies subjected to a maximum longitudinal force of 3000N. The procedure used a displacement loading speed of 20mm/min, maintained for 5 seconds, and repeated 5 times. The company reported no cracks or damage during these specific tests.
The inspection results follow a video released by Dongchedi, which claimed that three Maextro V800 vehicles experienced brake pedal bracket fractures during emergency braking tests from 100km/h to 0. The institute clarified that the current inspection results do not directly explain the previously reported fractures.
Technical experts emphasize that the slow loading test performed by the institute cannot be directly compared to the forces experienced during real-world emergency braking. Further investigation is required to analyze the sample status, installation constraints, and loading history to determine why the results differ.
