The author developed a method to maintain access to Claude Code after facing account blocks by Anthropic. The solution involves using a Linux VDS located in the same country as the user's payment method and phone number, while keeping local projects on a Mac.
The architecture uses an API gateway and an HTTP proxy running on the VDS to handle traffic and authentication. The VDS runs CLIProxyAPI version 8.0.20 and Tinyproxy, both configured to listen only on the local loopback interface.
The Mac connects to the VDS via an SSH tunnel established through NetBird. The tunnel forwards local ports 18317 and 18889 to the VDS, allowing the local Claude Code client to route requests through the server's network exit point.
The setup uses a custom LaunchAgent on the Mac to maintain the SSH tunnel. The local Claude Code configuration is updated to point to the local proxy addresses, ensuring that model requests and other traffic are routed through the VDS.
