BYD has officially presented the design of its first proprietary humanoid robot. The company filed an Embodied AI Robot design patent, which was published by the China National Intellectual Property Administration on October 9, 2026.

The robot features a black-and-white aesthetic with an arc-shaped head and multiple joints in its limbs. It is designed for industrial, educational, and service applications, with capabilities including walking, balance maintenance, and environmental interaction.

The design shares similarities with the Xiao Di model, which BYD previously teased. Specifications for Xiao Di include a height of 1.61 meters, a weight of 58.5 kg, and 31 degrees of freedom. Its hands offer a repetitive positioning accuracy of plus or minus 1 mm.

BYD began its robotics research in 2022 by establishing a dedicated team. The company intends to use its industrial scale to develop hardware and systems focused on perception, decision-making, and execution.

The company plans to integrate these robots into its dealership network. They are intended to perform standardized tasks, including greeting customers, explaining vehicle features, and demonstrating infotainment systems.
