The Russian aerospace company Bureau 1440, a subsidiary of ICS Holding, has utilized its low-orbit satellite network to provide remote electronic voting access in the village of Nelmin-Nos, located in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. This initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Central Election Commission of Russia during the elections for the ninth convocation of the State Duma.
The technical setup involved a Bureau 1440 subscriber terminal connected to a Kvadra_T tablet, which is manufactured by Yadro, another company within the ICS Holding group. This configuration allowed residents to cast their votes through the remote electronic voting system, serving as a practical test for the satellite service in Arctic conditions.
According to Alexey Shelobkov, CEO of Bureau 1440, the company has been conducting test deployments in remote settlements and along railway lines since August. These trials are designed to evaluate the entire infrastructure, including satellite channels, terminals, and digital services, as the company prepares its high-speed internet system for full-scale operation across Russia.
