Broadcom CEO Hock Tan stated that the company expects AI chip revenue to reach $115 billion in fiscal year 2027. By 2028, the company projects this figure will double to $230 billion, driven by high demand for computing infrastructure and inference products.
Anthropic is expected to become Broadcom's largest customer for AI chips by the end of 2027 and maintain this position throughout 2028. Historically, Google has been the primary client for Broadcom's tensor processing units.
Addressing concerns about AI safety, Tan argued that artificial intelligence is a tool rather than an uncontrollable threat. He expressed agreement with the need for safety regulations but emphasized that the technology will ultimately improve global living standards.
Broadcom continues to supply both custom AI chips and standard networking components for data centers. Despite calls from industry leaders like Anthropic's Dario Amodei to slow AI development, Tan remains confident in the sustained demand for AI infrastructure.
