Brax Technologies has unveiled the Brax Wink smartphone, featuring a 4-inch OLED display and a modular physical QWERTY keyboard. The device is powered by a MediaTek MT8875 SoC, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD cards up to 1 TB. It supports dual SIM, including eSIM, and operates on global LTE and 5G bands.
The hardware includes a 50 MP main camera, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6E, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, but lacks an NFC chip. The modular design allows users to replace the keyboard with a larger battery pack. Pre-orders are currently available at a promotional price of $450, down from the standard $700.
The phone runs on BraxOS, a Google-free Android version with no trackers or ads, and will receive software updates through 2032. A physical privacy switch allows users to disable microphones and the camera. Security features include a duress password that wipes data, automatic deletion after failed unlock attempts, and memory clearing after specific periods of inactivity.
BraxOS offers advanced privacy controls, such as restricting the USB-C port to charging only, disabling specific sensors, and enabling a focus mode. The system supports end-to-end encryption for calls and messages, IMEI spoofing, and the ability to block standard cellular communications. Shipments for the first batch are scheduled for July 2027.
