Bosch introduced the Rigid eAxle at the IAA Transportation event, designed for heavy commercial vehicles weighing between 18 and 49 tons. The component integrates an electric motor and transmission, which the company states reduces weight and improves efficiency compared to central electric drives. The axle is compatible with Bosch silicon carbide inverters that offer up to 99 per cent efficiency.
The company also unveiled a high-voltage blower module for 800-volt electric commercial and off-highway vehicles, aimed at optimizing thermal management and energy consumption. Furthermore, Bosch is promoting its Vehicle Integration Platform, which consolidates motion, energy, and body functions onto a central computing platform to support over-the-air updates.
In the driver assistance sector, Bosch has developed a camera-based monitoring system integrated into digital side mirrors, which is now standard equipment for two European truck manufacturers. The company also launched the ServoE, a fully electric steering system that eliminates the need for hydraulic oil and supports future steer-by-wire applications.
Bosch continues to develop hydrogen technologies, offering fuel cell systems with outputs from 100 to 300 kW for buses and trucks. The company has joined an alliance with partners including Daimler Truck, Volvo, and Toyota to accelerate the commercial deployment of hydrogen-powered heavy vehicles and the necessary infrastructure across Europe.
