The Boox Palma 2 Pro is a smartphone-sized e-reader priced at $400. It runs on Android and supports Google Play, allowing users to install third-party applications. The device features a front-lit screen with adjustable warm and cool lighting, and it weighs 175 grams.
Equipped with a rear camera for document scanning, a built-in speaker, and a hybrid SIM slot for cellular data, the device also supports stylus input for note-taking and PDF annotation. Users can expect a battery life of approximately 5–7 days, which can be extended by disabling Wi-Fi.
The device displays color, though images appear less vibrant than on standard smartphone screens. Some users may experience ghosting, which requires manual refreshing via a button in the navigation bar. Animations in non-optimized apps may also appear sluggish.
Boox plans to release a non-Pro Palma 3 model, which will feature a black-and-white display and replace the Palma 2, at a price of $340.
