Bombardier has agreed to acquire the production assets of MHI Canada Aerospace (MHICA) located in Mississauga, Ontario. The facility is currently owned by Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and has long served as a supplier for the company's business jets.
The transaction includes the production assets and approximately 750 employees. While the financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, the deal is expected to close by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals and standard closing conditions.
The plant specializes in manufacturing wing elements and central fuselage sections for the Global 5500 and Global 6500 long-range business jets. Additionally, the facility is responsible for assembling wings for the Challenger 3500 aircraft.
By bringing these processes in-house, Bombardier aims to increase control over the production of key components and reduce reliance on external suppliers. This vertical integration is intended to better align component manufacturing with the company's overall production schedules.
