Blackstone has launched a new division, BXN1, headquartered in San Francisco to centralize its artificial intelligence investment strategies. The platform merges the firm's growth equity and private equity operations focused on technology. Jas Khaira has been appointed to lead the unit, moving from New York to the Bay Area.
The firm reports that it has already deployed $150 billion into global data center assets, with an additional $160 billion investment pipeline. As of the second quarter of 2026, nine of Blackstone's top ten performing investments were within the AI sector.
In September 2026, Blackstone led a $27 million Series A funding round for the cybersecurity startup Huskeys, which is valued at over $100 million. The firm also partnered with Broadcom and Apollo on a $35 billion platform aimed at developing 20 gigawatts of AI compute capacity.
Blackstone maintains strategic relationships with OpenAI and Anthropic. The creation of BXN1 is intended to resolve internal coordination issues, as previous AI-related deals were split across different equity and infrastructure departments.
