BlackSky Technology has extended its partnership with the Australian non-Earth imaging provider HEO for an additional year. The new agreement is valued at a seven-figure sum, marking a transition from the initial six-figure pilot program that began two years ago.

The collaboration focuses on enhancing space domain awareness by utilizing BlackSky’s Gen-3 satellite imagery. HEO captures images of spacecraft by utilizing idle time on existing orbital cameras, which allows for monitoring objects in orbit without interrupting Earth-imaging operations.

HEO currently operates more than 50 sensors in orbit through a combination of hosted payloads and partner cameras. The company recently secured $25 million in a Series B funding round, which it intends to use to expand its imaging network into geostationary orbit.

The automated pipeline developed by the two companies enables customers, including defense and commercial operators, to generate analytics, identify subsystems, and detect anomalies. This service provides high-resolution data for monitoring orbital infrastructure.
