Clients of BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, recently purchased $69.85 million worth of Bitcoin. This transaction reflects the fund's mechanism of acquiring actual assets to back new shares issued to investors.
This inflow follows a period of recovery for US spot Bitcoin ETFs, which saw approximately $3 billion in inflows during a nine-day streak ending in late September 2026. This performance marked the strongest growth for the sector since October 2025.
Earlier in 2026, the fund recorded significant daily inflows, including $195.6 million on October 1 and $183.41 million in July. During a single week in September, IBIT captured approximately $1.2 billion in capital.
The market previously faced a downturn in mid-2026, with cumulative flows trending toward a potential loss of $5.8 billion. Institutional buying in late September helped shift the total tally to a positive position.
IBIT, launched in January 2024 following SEC approval, often accounts for the majority of net category flows. On certain days, the fund's inflows exceeded the total net inflows for the entire category, while competitors experienced outflows.
