Clients of BlackRock purchased Bitcoin worth $108.44 million in a single session through the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT). The fund typically records daily inflows between $80 million and $200 million. Since its launch in January 2024, IBIT has secured between 50% and 80% of total inflows in the US spot Bitcoin ETF market.
The trust currently holds between 770 000 and 786 000 BTC, with Coinbase Prime providing custody services. Weekly inflows have occasionally exceeded $680 million. While BlackRock manages these assets, the firm does not hold Bitcoin on its own balance sheet and only executes transactions based on specific client requests.
In 2026, BlackRock reduced the minimum threshold for in-kind conversions from $25 million to $1 million. This change allows investors to exchange direct Bitcoin holdings for IBIT shares at a lower entry point. Cumulative in-kind conversions have now surpassed $5 billion as investors move assets into the regulated ETF structure.
